WHAT'S IT ABOUT?
Zadie Thornton has sacrificed love, family, and friendships for her anthropology career, only to find that the rapid advancement of AI threatens to make her life’s work irrelevant. With her career hanging by a thread, she seizes a mysterious opportunity from her uncle to glimpse AI's unimagined future—never expecting it to take her to another world.
On the planet Mushēški, Zadie encounters the Anunnaki—humans who integrated an advanced form of AI into their genomes 5,000 years ago, granting them god-like abilities. However, their pursuit of perfection has come at a devastating cost, eroding their humanity and leaving them vulnerable to a terrifying disorder known as Quantum Psychosis. Determined to counter Quantum Psychosis, the Anunnaki have recreated ancient human species within vast biodomes to rediscover the forgotten pieces of themselves.
As Zadie wrestles with both fascination and unease, she resolves to remain on Mushēški, determined to reclaim her career and gather insights to help humanity avoid a similar fate. But as Quantum Psychosis cases surge, the Anunnaki’s once noble intentions twist into ruthless measures, forcing Zadie to confront the cost of unchecked technological advancement and the true meaning of humanity.
